Seven of the most luxurious rooftop bars in Asia
There’s no better way to wind down a busy work-day than a chilled drink and an incredible rooftop view of a twinkling night-time metropolis, especially if you’re in one of Asia’s great cities.
Overlooking some of the best sights in Asia, we take a closer look at the seven most exclusive rooftop bars across Asia, where you come for drinks and stay for the view.
1) VUE Bar, Shanghai
Located comfortably on the Bund, this legendary rooftop bar is renowned for its stunning view of the Shanghai Hongkou river and the skyscrapers that border it. Located on the 33rd floor, this bar comes with everything that speaks luxury, from lounge beds to private jacuzzis. If it’s your first time in Shanghai, VUE Bar is the best location to truly experience the city.
2) WoolooMooloo Bar, Hong Kong
WoolooMooloo in Hong Kong is known for its steakhouse, but the other jewel in it’s crown is the stunning view from the WoolooMooloo rooftop Bar. The open-air terrace in Wan Chai has an amazing panoramic view of the Wan Chai, Happy Valley and Victoria Harbour areas. Next time you creep into the Wan Chai area for a sundowner remember to check this bar experience out.
3) WooBar, Taipei
We all know how exquisite the service at W Hotels can be, and W Taipei is no exception. Sitting on the rooftop of the W Taipei is the WooBar, featuring a swimming pool and amazingly chilled lounge area. The super-chic atmosphere is something you have to experience for yourself, and cocktails by the pool are a must if you have time to pop in for a quick shandy or two.
4) New York Bar, Tokyo
Located at the Park Hyatt, New York Bar is a must-visit for travellers to Tokyo. Overlooking the streets of Shinjuku and located on the 52nd floor, this is the best place to take your loved one on a night in town. As featured in “Lost in Translation”, many people visit this rooftop bar just for its significance in the film.
5) Vertigo and Moon Bar, Bangkok
The Vertigo and Moon Bar at the Banyan Tree in Bangkok is probably your best bet for the best rooftop bar in the Thai capital. Located on the 61st floor, this sophisticated and relaxing atmosphere is all you need to relax or have business company. With an unobstructed 360 degree view of the city you’ll be pleased with your experience here.
6) Lantern Bar, Singapore
Most people think of Ku De Ta at Marina Bay Sands when it comes to the best view in Singapore.
But that’s not our go-to best bar in Singapore.
Next time you’re in the Lion City check out Lantern Bar at the Fullerton Bay Hotel. This bar is not only the highest altitude-wise, it serves spectacular Latin American -Cuban-inspired food and cocktails. We recommend this bar for a good twist on a classic rooftop bar.
7) Marini’s on 57, Malaysia
Marini’s on 57 is arguably the best rooftop bar in Malaysia. There is certainly no better view overlooking the nearby Petronas Twin Towers than at Marini’s on 57, where on moonlit nights you can see birds flocking around the lightning poles at the towers’ two peaks.
Marini’s itself is a part of the Kuala Lumpur skyline, and although we say it ourselves, we serve some of the best cocktails in the area, including our take on the Bloody Mary, the ‘Bloody Marini”, a combination of the classic with the luxurious.
So, whether it be doing business or meeting friends, a good rooftop bar is one of the most spectacular ways to truly experience a city with a skyline. This list isn’t definitive, so look out for our next entry for the rest of Asia’s best bars.
