When it comes to comic book movies, no one has done it better than the Marvel Cinematic Universe, from its first ever film, Iron Man, to its ultimate cumulation with the much-anticipated Avengers Endgame. At Marini’s on 57, we are celebrating just that, with our bespoke series of drinks in honour of some of our favourite heroes called the Mavengers Cocktails.
Oh Captain My Captain
Captain America is one of the most recognised heroes in the Marvel Universe, and is known for his unshakable morality and standing up for others. The super soldier was injected with the super serum giving him his strength, durability and slow aging properties, but what he’s most visually recognised for is not only his red, white and blue outfit, but his great iconic shield.
The Captain 57 cocktail is a vodka-based cocktail, served with lemonade, lemon juice, cranberry juice and Bols Blue Curaçao. The drink is served in iconic captain colours of red and blue, and if its look isn’t enough to entice you, its flavour definitely is. With a mix of sweet and sour, this drink will definitely pique your taste buds.
I Am Iron Man
With its reputation of being a song by the infamous Black Sabbath, Iron Man was the hero that started it all. His reputation for being the original billionaire playboy genius is what makes him one of the most known Avenger. As a founding member of the Avengers, his technological knowledge and intellect has made him one of the most important members of the initiative and is famously known for his different iron man suits.
The Iron Mate is a red wine-based cocktail consisting of lime juice, Olmeca tequila, grenadine syrup, and passion fruit purée. This drink not only has the iconic colours of iron man, it has the strength and flavour to match. With a sweet icy flavour from the passion fruit and its deep flavour from the red wine, you can see why this drink has been dubbed the strongest drink on the Mavengers menu.
Float Like A Butterfly, Sting Like A Wasp
Although introduced much later in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Wasp was actually one of the founding members of the Avengers in the comics. The original Janet Van Dyne is the wife of the original Ant-Man Hank Pym, who is known for his Pym particles enabling our heroes to journey into the subatomic world. Although both The Wasp and Ant-Man have the ability to shrink and grow, only The Wasp has the technology of flight.
A Wasp is a midori-based cocktail consisting of apple syrup, pineapple juice, crème de menthe and Havana club 3-year. This drink is served in a tall glass, and is lined with crystalline sugar, making the drink perfect for those looking for a melon-based cocktail, with is a little on the sweeter side.
Groot Is Good
Groot is one of the Marvel characters that was initially quite unknown, but is easily one of the most recognisable characters today. Introduced in the Guardians of the Galaxy series, Groot is a sentient tree with the ability to regrow its limbs. With Groot being one of our favourite heroes that was dusted in the snappening, we can only hope to see him again in the End Game.
Like Groot is a rum-based cocktail consisting of mango purée, orange bitters, coconut cream and chartreuse green. The cocktail has a nice citrusy flavour from the orange, but sweetness from the mango. What makes this drink the best is its coconut cream, giving that silky texture.
